If you've heard the news about Firefox lately, you'll know that they've shown their true colors, and they're ugly. They went from "we will never, ever sell your data" to "we have a license to do whatever we damn well please with your data". Up until this point, I didn't have a problem with their browser, but now that they've changed their privacy policy to reflect that they're just another big-tech boogeyman, I don't want shit to do with Firefox. They left a horrible taste in my mouth with this policy change. I have since switched to LibreWolf, and I won't be using Firefox ever again.
WHERE DO WE GO NOW?
Since Firefox is open source, there are plenty of forks that are pretty decent from a privacy standpoint. These include LibreWolf, Mullvad Browser, and Floorp. There are also plenty of Chromium-based alternatives, including Brave, Ungoogled Chromium, and Vivaldi. So, there are alternatives. But what if these browsers turn out to be selling our data? Will we ever be safe from browsers collecting our data and selling it to third parties? That's a question I'm afraid I can't answer.
