*THIS IS AN OPINION PIECE. THIS DOES NOT RELAY ANY INFORMATION WHATSOEVER.*
AI is a pretty fantastic technology that can be beneficial to people if used properly. To clarify a few things, I'm talking about the various AI chatbots out there that can answer many questions (ChatGPT, Bing AI, Google's Bard, etc). But I think AI as a technology is detrimental to the fabric of society. It doesn't encourage any intelectual growth, and just does everything for you (some kids were even reported using AI to cheat on their homework.) I feel like more safeguards need to be put in place as to how the technology is used. If not, the technology can be used for malicious purposes. We might start to see criminals using AI to aide them in their crimes. Honestly, I'm surprised we haven't seen that yet. If there was a way to put these safeguards in place that respects the user's privacy, I'd waver all of my support for it.
